Governance

As a Multi-Academy Trust (MAT), our schools are joined as a single legal entity: Endeavour Academy Trust. We are a company limited by guarantee and an exempt charity. We have one shared governance and leadership structure:

The Members

Our 'Members' act as Trust ambassadors. New Members are appointed by a unanimous resolution by existing Members. They have a number of statutory rights, including the ability to appoint and remove trustees, amend the trust's Articles of Association subject to DfE approval and to appoint external auditors.

Over the past 12 months, the Members of Endeavour Academy Trust have been:

The Board of Trustees

The Board of Trustees is responsible to the Members and has responsibilities for the trust's strategic management. Its duty is to manage the trust's affairs, ensure compliance with regulatory and statutory duties and assume the responsibility of employer. All of our trustees have a duty to act within the trust's objectives and powers, without conflict of interests and without personal benefit.

The trust's Chief Executive Officer is an ex-officio trustee. All other trustees are appointed by the Members (see above) and have a 4-year term of office.

The Local Governing Bodies

Each Local Governing Body has an individual academy remit, which enables it to focus on the performance and scrutiny of teaching and learning; student behaviour, attendance, safety and wellbeing; and stakeholder engagement. The Chair of each Local Governing Body reports to the Board of Trustees to ensure a constant line of communication.

For details of current local governing body membership, including business and pecuniary interest as well as meeting attendance information, please see the governance section of the relevant academy website.

Federation Committees

The Board of Trustees has elected to delegate some of its decision-making authority to two committees: the HR Committee and the Finance Committee. Each committee's Chair must be a trustee, who reports back to the Board on the committee's activity. Each federation committee must comprise a majority of trustees over non-trustees.
